They say a career as a lawyer is an extraordinary calling. It takes a lot of undertaking in terms of time and financial investment. So it’s a prerequisite to learn beforehand as much about the profession as possible before you embark this path. Read more about why law is an interesting profession.

Opportunity to study with different culture

One of the best things about your course is that you will be studying alongside students from around the world. The English common law system is influential across the world and studying it gives you real perspective on the value of your chosen subject, as well as a fabulous insight into other legal systems. Your calendar will be filled with networking events, law balls, moots and debates.

    Earning Potential

It’s always greener as it’s among the highest paid professionals. Lawyers employed in large law firms, major metropolitan areas and in-demand specialties generally earn the highest incomes.

    Prestige

For generations, a career as a lawyer has been a hallmark of prestige. It commands respect and embody the definition of success. Today, lawyers still enjoy a unique professional status and a glamorous image. Don’t you agree?

    Opportunity to Help Others

Being a lawyer gives you an intense and unique position to help individuals, groups, and organizations with their legal problems and further the public good. Lawyers can help those in need of legal assistance who might not otherwise be able to afford a lawyer or those who have low-income individuals and underserved portions of the population such as the elderly, victims of domestic abuse and children.

    Intellectual Challenge

Working as a lawyer is one of the most intellectually-rewarding jobs. Lawyers are problem-solvers, analysts and innovative thinkers whose intellect is crucial to career success and successes of others.

    Handy Skills

Even if you don’t practice law, a degree in law can open new opportunities and serve as a stepping stone to a new career such as legal consulting, teaching and management.

    Global Impact

Lawyers are in a unique position to affect societal change – writing the laws, rule the courts and hold influential positions in government. These enables impact change around the globe. Law manages to affect everything, and studying it gives you the freedom to develop your interest in almost anything. From geo-politics in international law, to medicine in tort law. From sociology in family law, to economics in European Union and contract law.

    You can play the villain

You’re allowed to indulge your inner performer and give a breath-taking display of villainy. These opportunities arise every time someone asks: “But how can you defend someone that you know is guilty?” This is your chance to play up to a marvelous stereotype.

Why law? That’s a question you’re going to be asked over and over again if you are starting to think a career in law might be the one for you. You’ll be answering it on work placement application forms, during mock interviews, at tutor meetings, when applying for courses, at scholarship interviews… the list goes on. So if you are at school or college and thinking about a career in law, it’s a good idea to start considering how you’re going to answer it. We hope this article helps you out!
